A time-lapse piece made in a buffalo wallow. So many water sources in Arnhem Land are damaged by introduced feral buffalo. The red dirt follows the shape of the cracked and compacted earth. The leaves fell from the trees during the dry season, and I placed them here to evoke the memory of flames and the burning heart, of the pain felt in the landscape, of the sacrifices it has made.
Made on Dalabon country in the Northern Territory, Australia. I pay my respect to the Traditional Owners of the land and their Elders, past, present and emerging.
