This work was created on freshly burnt land in the midst of the dry fire season in Northern Australia.
There has always been a profound connection between women and fire, whether for ritual, sustenance, or the hearth of a home. Women often gathered around it in the wild places.
I frequently incorporate circles in my work to symbolise the perpetual cycles of life and death in the natural world, emphasising that all things have their seasons. This piece was crafted using multiple overlaid photographs shot with a drone.
Made on Dalabon country in the Northern Territory, Australia. I pay my respect to the Traditional Owners of the land and their Elders, past, present and emerging.
