She had mud for blood. The tadpoles filled the water, like sperm, life returning to the mud; lakes form. She grew out of the dirt with the new shoots. Her hair made of sticks and things, her skin, wet sand. She had mud for blood.
As the waters rose, so did she, out of the primordial ooze of new life, just like the tadpoles. They nibbled at her feet in the warm mud. She had mud for blood. Made at the very beginning of the wet season in one of the first rains of the year. I always love this time when everything comes alive and green is everywhere, so bright it hurts your eyes.
