My painting "Black Man" is an expression of my philosophical reflections on the nature of human identity and its relationship to the world. Using figurative painting, I sought to create nothing less than a metaphor for our perception of the world around us.
The central figure in my painting is a dark-skinned man. His image symbolizes my musings on how our external identity can influence the way we see the world and how others see us. The man stands in darkness, while the silhouette of a woman in the background comes to the foreground, seemingly attesting to the attention paid to the dark-skinned man.
The blue-green background in my painting is also important, as it symbolizes the perception of the world as a living organism, inhabited by diverse creatures and identities. This background reminds us that we live in one world, where the diversity of identities can be the key to understanding the world.
