I was lucky enough to receive my first commission from @DDO_xyz via Twitter to use the visual data provided by her digital photograph alone to make a 1/1 abstract art work.
My intention is to continue this project on an ad hoc basis as I'm interested in exploring the traditional idea of 'The Portrait’ in todays data driven society.
I make an artistic response to the information shared by the sitter.
I’m asking if the finished ‘portrait’, in the light of the NFT Communities current obsession with pfp, needs to have a physical resemblance to the owner of the image at all.
What is being signified by the choice of pfp?
How realistic do we chose to make our profiles?
How accurately are we encouraged to perceive one another via screens?
