divine currents
This artwork beautifully unites two powerful water deities from different cultures—Anahita, the ancient Persian goddess of water, fertility, and wisdom, and Yemaya, the revered Yoruba goddess of the ocean, motherhood, and protection.
Anahita, draped in flowing waters, symbolizes purity, abundance, and the sacred rivers that nourish the earth. Her divine presence in Persian mythology reflects her role as a protector and life-giver, embodying the celestial and earthly connection through water.
On the other side, Yemaya, adorned with blue garments and seashell jewelry, emerges as the mother of the ocean. She represents the depth of emotions, healing, and resilience, worshipped across West Africa and the African diaspora. Her waves carry the spirit of guidance and protection, embracing those who seek her blessings.
This fusion of Persian and Nigerian mythology creates a dialogue between two ancient traditions, showing how water, as a life-giving force, connects civilizations beyond borders. The artwork captures the mystical essence of both goddesses, celebrating their divine femininity and their timeless role as protectors of life.
