[Custom Object] lip-sync//dance is a series of artworks created in collaboration between Ambrose Trataris and Lucy Black, playing with embodiment and disembodiment in the queer body. Operating as another iteration of the self, the avatar, and the persona, these posable dolls can exist in an infinite number of compositions and forms.
This artwork depicts Skirt Cocaine, a mixed Filipino drag king and show producer in LA’s queer punk scene. With an aesthetic ranging from Kpop to rococo, he explores the wide range of masculinity and identity outside the bounds of toxic whiteness.
