Some of you know this, but I am Native American. The magic of Apache blood flows through me. Because of this, I do not celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving.
For me, today is not about European settlers bringing “civilization“ to a new land. It is about remembering “the old way of living“. The way of life that was lead by nature, now exchanged for life lead by money, taxes, and federal government.
It does not feel right for me to celebrate this day in the traditional sense, so I choose to celebrate “GlitchGiving”, my own day of family, food, gratitude for what we have and remembrance for what we have lost.
But don’t worry, I will not get offended if you tell me Happy Thanksgiving! I am grown enough not to get upset at tiny things lol, and even if today is just a regular Thursday to you, I wish you the best Thursday ever!
