The framework of our government consists of three branches 𝒕𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 to the impressionable youth in this country as a way to ensure separate but equal power. In reality they are all bought and paid for by the highest bidder and are therefore all equally unworthy of our trust. Unless of course, you are a big corporation, in which case you can trust that the government has your best interest in mind when creating, interpreting and enforcing the laws. It's funny too (not really) that the term 'checks and balances' is what we do to our checkbooks, but the pentagon can make egregious "accounting errors" in the billions of dollars range, misplace pallets of cash in foreign countries during times of war, and sink us further into debt, and this is seen as acceptable to the American people.
