I had gone to play. At 25 years old, I wanted to have fun. In a world where everything was gray, I longed to see something green. I searched and searched and searched, but there was nothing. I was hopeless, the hopelessness of adulthood. I wanted to be a child and see colors. I wanted to play, but I fell to the ground, and when you fall, it’s adulthood. I wanted to laugh, but tears came instead, and when you cry, it’s adulthood. I was scared, and when you’re scared, it’s adulthood. I searched and searched and searched until I came across a little spirit. In front of it was a green sprout. I smiled. It felt like hope had returned to me. Now I could go home, and I was heading back when I saw that I had fallen right where I’d hit the ground before. I wasn’t alive. I don’t know why, but I kept going on my way, and there was a green sprout in front of me.
