FLS Year of the Tiger - Fuk by bejuco

The three statues Fuk Luk Sau (they also go by other names) are feng shui deities that bring fortune and protection. They're part of Charlie's larger project “It Came From The Surface” which also has pieces at CHIFA LA. Fuk who brings unity and harmony is dressed in all clothes from young Latinx designers Barragan, Valentina Vargas, Sentimineto, Paloma Lira and Equihua. Fuk was styled in collaboration with Cesar Alvarez of Totem Tienda.

Photogrammetry of a 16' by 10' by 10' ceramic sculpture hand-painted by Charles Mai and Glenn Mai and polished in Blender by Pierre Puentes. This piece accompanies the Sau statue minted for the 2023 MOWNA Biennial.

Charlie Mai (b. 1995, Arlington, VA) lives in Bogotá, Colombia, working between sculpture and performance to investigate the lineage of immigration both personal and collective, assimilative and resistant.

Pierre Puentes (b. 1997, Tunja, BOY) lives in Togüí, Colombia, working in the production of tools, installations and audiovisual pieces for artistic, performative and research projects.
