Échappée Onirique is an artistic exploration that visualizes dreams as autonomous entities, capable of leaving the body and manifesting in the real world. This idea is based on existentialist philosophy and theories of the psyche developed by thinkers like Carl Jung, who saw dreams as manifestations of the collective unconscious, and Gaston Bachelard, who wrote on the poetics of space and the imagination. Existentialist Philosophy and Psyche:
Carl Jung: Jung saw dreams as manifestations of the collective unconscious, a reservoir of memories and symbols shared by all humanity. For him, dreams are bridges between the individual and the collective, between the conscious and the unconscious. Viewing them as autonomous entities considers that these bridges can become bidirectional paths where dreams can influence reality as much as they are influenced by it.
Gaston Bachelard: Bachelard wrote on the poetics of space and imagination, exploring how our dreams and imaginations shape our perception of space and time. According to Bachelard, dreams create imaginary spaces that can be just as real as physical spaces. By allowing dreams to manifest in the real world, we explore how these imaginary spaces can interact with tangible reality.
