Digital. 1920x1080. (Praise / Blame) is based on a frame from the film Gummo, where two blurred-faced figures lie down, inhaling glue from plastic bags. The work focuses on their faces and hands, rendered with loose yet well-placed brushstrokes and vivid, layered effects. The colorful, almost magical technique evokes the altered state of drug use not as failure, but as a tool to endure a reality that feel too weak to live. Gummo has become a recurring reference in my recent works, symbolizing the search for happiness within a self-destructive context. A faint green texture in the background, a recurring motif in my paintings, suggests a raw, natural chaos that, when embraced, might offer a more honest peace. The title alludes to an irony "The Cure" referring to the feeling that drugs are, at times, the only way to experience something close to happiness.
