Based on a photograph of my sister and me standing side by side in our old family home during our teenage years, this work revisits a moment from our shared past.
Two painted images are reflected horizontally into one another, creating a shifting composition in vivid shades of yellow, red, blue, and orange. The warm, luminous colors transform the original photograph into something between a remembered scene and an imagined landscape.
Through this mirrored composition, I return to a time when we shared the same home and everyday life. Today, distance and time have changed our lives, but these images continue to hold a fragment of our shared youth.
Part of my Remembrance series, this work explores how images preserve the presence of people and places that remain with us, even as life carries us apart.
