Her Youth Acrylic on silk, 60 × 40 cm, 1/1
I painted my sister at eighteen, from a photograph I took when I was sixteen and had just started studying art. She is lying down, looking directly at the viewer, depicted by black, pink, violet, and white.
Back then, I was always fascinated by her beauty. In my memory, she was at the height of her youth and beauty, and I was looking at her with the admiration of a younger sister who had just begun to see the world through images.
Years have passed. We now live far from each other and have grown into different versions of ourselves. Life has left its traces on our bodies and minds.
Painting her again is a way of returning to that particular moment—to her youth, and to mine, before either of us knew what was ahead.
Because of the personal place this work holds in my remembrance, I chose to mint it as a 1/1.
