MELONLAND is part of FROM SPAM TO SLOP exhibition at AVANT GALERIE PARIS.Curators @albertinemeunier and @hugoduplex
Melonland is a fictional territory imagined through artificial intelligence, where harvest turns into architecture and fruit rises as a monument. Houses swell into domes of melon, villages dissolve into surreal abundance, and familiar rural scenery becomes an uncanny spectacle. The project reflects on how AI reshapes memory and collective imagination: it does not invent in isolation but reworks fragments of cultural imagery, amplifying them into myth. In Melonland, the melon becomes a principle of world-building, at once playful, excessive, and strangely persuasive. These images invite viewers to question the shifting balance between truth and fiction, especially in an era where the emotional charge of an image often outweighs its factual accuracy.
Our screens are overwhelmed by visual saturation of cosmic proportions, featuring increasingly captivating and bizarre content. The exhibition From Spam to Slop examines two overflowing phenomena of contemporary visual culture driven by artificial intelligence: SPAM ART, a subversive artistic practice that saturates social media and digital spaces, and SLOP, an industrial mechanism producing strange and unsettling AI-generated imagery for commercial gain and manipulative purposes.
Along the exhibition, the gallery will release a NFT drop on Objkt featuring the artists of the exhibition.
