ust like every time whenever there was a bar fight, Joe closed the bar early and started to clean all the mess by himself. Sure, there were employee (actually, his jobless friend who came to him asking for a job), but Joe asked them just to go home. “But, please don’t pray this kind of thing happens everyday so you guys can go home early.”
Joe always considered himself as the real average Joe. ‘No special things about me’, he admitted to his girlfriend. ‘Average Joe, from average family, with average background.’
’Except you’re special to me,’ said his girlfriend.
Joe had never expected that fate would bring him to that table; facing customer, mixing cocktails, teased by beautiful girls… He did not believe in fate, anyway. For him, life could be a small boat, with just a little snacks, shook by ocean waves. Other times, he also thought that life was just like a game that he always do as a child; hide and seek. His friends never liked when he joined them, because he never really hiding. What’s the point? Whoever hides would be found soon. Those moment was more than enough to put a smile on his face, all the time.
Hide and seek, black and white, lost and found; knowing two words depicting something contrast, somehow, could put him at ease. Something that he really needed after a long hard day.
