Each culture gives one or more reasons to be feared. The Daiodi are certainly quite dark in their approach to religion and death. But isn’t their way a little too extreme?
Muinarc hill is one of the darker places to visit. Heavy atmosphere of death and suffering in combination with the infernal presence created a truly powerful genius loci. Exacerbated by regular pilgrimages with hundreds of boar-headed devotees, this artificial mound reeks of black magic. The portal to the world of extra-dimensional entities is quite literal: once you pass through the bone gate at the Muinarc hill’s mouth, you can say farewell to your very soul. Serious pilgrims are granted access to the lower level underneath the ossuary; that is if their offering is worthy of the infernal ceaseless hunger. The rites there are strangely coordinated by themselves. It is said that the cursed incorporeal spirits organize the dark pilgrims and no one particular of the daiodi tribes is in charge there. Rangi observers tell nothing more than descriptive reports of the cruel rituals that often take place around the bone structure. Some critiques of this passive approach call the technocratic Ou’Rangi cowards for not eradicating this obvious threat to civilised way of the coastal cultures. From the kalama perspective, the Daiodi pose no threat as they had refused to participate in the colonisation of the rivers and therefore have a different agenda that doesn’t include other coastal cultures. That might be true, but how about the nomadic tribes that still roam the inlands? The quaggai tribes are in constant state of war with the infernal Daiodi, as are the few remaining “free” kotharaki tribes or the wild karchari hermit communes. Lutrani river outposts and bakeries are raided by the Daiodi, but not very often – mainly due to the lutrani intricate defense systems. However, the rumours of something big brewing under the Muinarc hill had never been as frequent. Some desert passes are becoming more and more dangerous with the increased aggresivity of daiodi bandits and the encounters now describe even these thugs having stronger infernal cult ties, weaving foul sorcery and displaying dark occult symbolism. ⁜
