Down Where I Am: Drowning in Red

A woman stands in the enveloping darkness, lit only by an unsettling red light. A snake, a symbol of temptation and knowledge, wraps around her neck. Yet, she gazes upward, and from her eyes, butterflies—symbols of hope and resurrection—emerge. This piece is a chilling exploration of darkness and light, constraint and freedom, despair and hope. But the most poignant element lies within her chest, where another woman is seen drowning amidst a sea of red. It represents the overwhelming weight of emotions and inner demons that threaten to engulf her completely. This powerful artwork invites reflection on the complexities of the human experience, offering a poignant reminder of the potential for rebirth and liberation even amidst the darkest moments.
