Perhaps the most impressive story that was repeated many times among the people of the town was the story of "Mata" who was a healer that went to different cities with her old chariot and sold medicinal plants and cured the sick. Mata's homemade medicines and herbal concoctions were famous. One day, she confronted with a rare medicinal plant (Lophophoea williamsi) She dried it, burned it and inhaled its smoke throughout the journey. That day she saw "The Great Spirit" on her journey in the middle of desert. The spirit immediately showed her mercy by healing her paralyzed hand. After the effect of the plant wears off, she returned to the city after hunting Lophophora bushes and collecting some cactus. She was able to do the prescription by burning Lophophora cactus in the patient's room, feeding it to them and applying ointment, curing any disease. On Tuesdays she would come back to desert and fill her big sack with cactus and return to the city. Until one day in the desert something strange happened and she realized that she had forgotten something and anxiously started looking for it not knowing what! Days of searching passed by and dehydration made her mind dizzy and face dry and pale.
She lost her right hand again: desert betrayed her by taking back it’s blessings then she turned into a ghost that slowly walked in the hot barren land of the desert looking for something she had lost. Desert cursed her by taking her soul and replacing it with a part of itself Mata lost her everything and became a wandering human like figure trodding the waste land for ever.
