Long ago, deep within the Whispergroves, there lay a stone altar overgrown with ancient vines and black moss. At its center rested a forgotten relic—a gnarled wooden heart wrapped in living thorns, pulsing ever so faintly. It was called the Thornheart Idol, and no living creature dared touch it.
Forged by druids turned mad by grief, the idol was a vessel of pure wrath—crafted from the petrified heart of a treespirit that witnessed its forest and kin burned alive by men. The druids believed if the world ever strayed too far from balance, the Thornheart would awaken something older than death to restore it.
For centuries, it lay dormant… until a warlock named Brelm unearthed it—seeking power, not penance.
When Brelm placed the idol into the roots of a dying tree during a blood ritual, the ground cracked. The bark split. The forest wept.
And from the roots Dreadroot rose—fused with the Thornheart, its body carved from twisted bark, fire-hardened sap, and pulsing with the living curse sealed inside.
