Waj ibn ‘Unuq is one of the figures depicted in illustrated versions of ʿAjā’ib al-Makhlūqāt (Wonders of Creation). He is described as a very tall and gigantic man who was born in the time of Adam, the father of humankind, and lived for 3,500 years. According to the narratives, he lived during Noah’s Flood, and due to his great height, the waters of the flood and the seas only reached his knees.
