Part 9: The Void • • • Absolute silence, I can see nothing but black. No longer existing, just an observer I float there. I was in a place I could only describe as the void. It wasn’t cold. It wasn’t warm, it wasn’t anything. What was unsettling was how quickly the absence of sensation became my own torment. I wasn’t alone, I knew that much. My thoughts weren’t my own anymore. I could feel them fraying at the edges. Something was pulling at them. It whispered in concepts not words, each one scraping my mind like nails on a chalk board. It was closer now, plucking at my memories like peddles on a flower. I was unraveling, becoming one with the void. Right as I submit, I feel a tug at my hand and something pulls me out. When I came back to my senses, I realize I was in front of the cave I entered all those years ago. I could feel it in the air. I was back.
