Part 7: The Reaper • • • I open my eyes and realized I’m somehow on the edge of a river. In front of me, a meadow of flowers giving off a radioactive glow. Above, a sky so clear I could see millions of stars. This was the first time I’ve had a second to think in a while. I look over my shoulder and then I see him. A silhouette in the distance stood a clocked figure with a hood and a scythe so tall as if it was reaching for the sky. Oddly enough when I looked at it, I wasn’t startled. It’s as if I just realized this figure has been with me ever since I stepped into that cave all that time ago. It was this heavy feeling of impending doom, just a cold and swift judgment of death. Just as quickly as I noticed it, it was gone. As I walk under the stars I start to think about my next move, ankles already starting to burn from the glow of the flowers. The vegetation starts to get taller and thicker until I find myself in a boggy terrain.
