Catering Pak (CryptoMeme #002): Y U G A A R M Y, 2022 (CryptoMeme #007)

In mid-March 2022 it transpired that Yuga Labs, the company responsible for founding the current top-ranked NFT collectable Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), had become owners of the 2nd and 3rd most successful NFT collectables, MeeBits and CryptoPunks, acquired from their main business rival Larva Labs. This piece was borne of the news of that accretion. Inspired by the famed Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huan and also the concurrent war against Ukraine, I imagined them forming a huge battalion and marching on Russia defeating Putin. The YL logo used in a way reminiscent of SS armbands is more of a prod than a nod. It makes fun of the ridiculous, baseless campaign waged recently against YL accusing them of a Neo-Nazi manifesto, hiding covert white supremacist messages in the BAYC brand; as well as Putin's ridiculous deflection from his own criminal behaviour by making allegations of Neo-Nazism in the Ukraine as an excuse for his heinous war crimes.
