Figuration X Electrifying Opera: L’ amour est loin

This large charcoal drawing by Leo Crane is one of four concept artworks for L’amour rebelle, the first-ever live opera NFT. It shows the arrival of Carmen, modelled by Roy Joseph Butler. He steps across a landscape of fallen feathers while the Rebel Bird of love watches at a distance above.

L'amour rebelle explores sexuality and conflict by reimagining Georges Bizet’s classic opera Carmen. It premiered with a live performance and animated projections in Los Angeles on 29 March 2022.
