Void Study #5 is part of the Void Studies series. In this piece, we see a woman walking on top of a hill, looking down into a hole in the ground — the void itself. She loses her balance, her body wobbling forward, and then falls into it in an almost comical way, like a cartoon character she falls clumsily slipping unexpectedly into darkness. She does not enter the void purposefully. The work carries a tension between humor and inevitability. The fall appears absurd, but not accidental. It’s about the impossibility of avoiding meeting the void. Whether willingly or unwillingly one is still pulled toward it. The void remains present, waiting to be encountered.
Void Studies is a series of short video works exploring the relationship between the woman and a recurring dark presence across different situations. The void is not something to be afraid of. It is a companion to the body, which meets it with playful curiosity, sometimes simply stepping into it.
