Nervous Breakdowns: STEP 1) by Andrés Zighelboim
"BEFORE HE GOES INTO THE WATER, A DIVER CANNOT KNOW WHAT HE’LL BRING BACK…
St Anthony gone mad on drugs Water damage and more.
The American Dream in action Expenses be damned.
Our small selves: Stone broke Pouring sweat. Weighed down with anchor chains In the womb of the desert sun.
The heavens Burning with fever Laugh at this strange torpedo Our astonished world.
A world of haunting beauty Mystery everywhere.
Imprisoned For ransom or for pleasure In the cold magnesium frame Of Free Enterprise.
Vandalism.
“Unlimited credit!” Screech saints and madonnas and fawns With wild red eyeballs And trembling hands. “Plenty of cash on the line!”
They speak through red slashes of lipstick Beneath the movements of the stars Pipelines And cathedrals.
They try to pretend They’re not hungry."
