Often times, I feel overwhelmed by the feeling of depression looming over my soul, the noise of society drowning out my thoughts, and the pressures to succeed in a seemingly doomed world cripple the ability to function.
This photo is the embodiment of how Ive felt on an almost daily basis for the last ten years. Depression has been an ongoing battle that comes in waves without warning. For myself, it feels like I am the one in the photo, small and feeble, and the monolithic icefield is my depression, cold and unbeatable. Although it may seem hopeless, this photo is truly about perseverance and knowing that you'll be fine against even the most unbeatable odds.
This photo was taken during a backpacking trip in Kenai Fjords National Park, AK in August 2021.
