máthēma: Fourier Transform

The sublime elegance of the Fourier Transform is only surpassed by its universal applicability. From the flow of heat to electrical circuitry,  electromagnetic radiation, mass spectrometry, microfluidics, nanolithography, and hundreds of other areas of science and engineering, the Fourier Transform reigns supreme. But as digital artists and musicians, we are grateful to Mr. Fourier most of all for the Transform's applications in music and art, in particular for the frequencies of musical pitch and for image compression.
