Marriage is………. Well, pointless. Becoming financially tied to another person with far less than great credit was an idea Hyung found to be absurd. His dreams of becoming a software engineer came and went as his SAT scores didn’t impress the board. Instead, he turned to social media. Spending so much time scrolling through feeds, seeing all of the fun and lavish creations, Hyung took a liking to fashion. It wasn’t something he entirely understood- he didn’t understand the difference between ready-to-wear and haute couture, or what makes a Y2K-esque Balenciaga bag stand out so well. But he did understand color. Colors, shades, textures, fabric, anything you could style on a body simple made sense. Thus, a catapult into a new life.
As years went on Hyung had an extremely successful modeling career. He truly loved what he did… on the runway. At home he was depressed. It was what felt more like an acting career- wake up, eat, exercise, pretend for 8 hours, come home, and fall right back into that depression. He wondered what he did with his life, and more importantly why? Was it worth forgetting his dreams in tech? Was it worth not finding his soulmate? Was it worth trying to fix other people’s relationships instead of the one between his mind and body? Why am I unhappy?
