Haouaria is the closest Tunisian village to Europe, from the top of Jebel Abiod you can even see the lights of Sicily (Italy). On the other side of the mountain, the sea in front, a heavenly view from a path that allowed us to contemplate the purity of the sea, the Zembra and Zembretta islands that stood in the distance and the wreck of the stranded boat that has become a symbol of Haouaria. The history of this wreck is not shrouded in mystery as perhaps we would have liked but it deserves to be mentioned: in 1998 Asklipios, a Finnish icebreaker was sold to Greece. The crew leaves for the destination but near Tunisia, the ship catches fire. The crew is rescued by a boat of Ukrainian origin and brought to Tunisia. Since Asklipios is the rusty star of photos and scuba diving. A circuit with magnificent landscapes! Today the Asklipios wreck is almost completely gone.
