Colors of Japan: Floating Castle

Echizen Ono Castle, located in Fukui Prefecture, is a historic Japanese castle built on top of a small mountain. Only on days when various weather conditions unique to this area are met, a large area under the castle is covered with a sea of clouds, making it a castle in the sky. In order to get this ideal shot, I spent a lot of time going back and forth to check the angle of the sun and the time of day when the castle would be exposed to good light and the shadows would grow. I will never forget the excitement of seeing this beautiful, developing scene.
