Seasons: Summer (Some Things Never Change)

In the sun, you stood, after the rain, Waiting and expecting a sign, Your head so softly cocked to one side As your lips sang a desperate sigh.

Impatient and awaiting my decision, You, of a kind I’d never seen, I watched as day and night met in collision Within a world I’d never been.

Alien species, kindred forms of life, As much familiar, contradictory, Our eyes burned, aflame, assured despite Throats also choked by insecurity.

We strove to make grand the mistake; Disappointment wrapped with a bow; Less an offer to give than to take; Seeds we never meant to be sown.

I put my hands upon your ears, And I pressed my mouth against yours: A kiss forgotten to the years, More so now ever than before.
