Sirsasana: The Yogic Headstand
In Sanskrit: Devanagari: शीर्षासन IAST: śīrṣāsana
Sirsa: Head
Asana: Pose
At first when the practitioner performs the balance on the head everything will seem completely strange. It will take an effort for you to think clearly and act logically. This is due to the fear of falling and the best way to overcome fear is to face the fearful situation with equanimity. Then you gain a correct perspective and are no longer afraid.
Falling into a somersault while learning the pose isn't as terrible as we might think. If this happens, you need to remember to relax and soften your body, so you just roll over and smile.
Just as it is in life, it is in yoga: there will always be some falls but we must learn the art of falling and never giving up.
