Golden Future IX

Golden Future is about our insatiable desire to exploit our environment at the cost of our planet and of future generations.

If we could change water into gold, we would do so until the very last drop. Even if it would mean the end of humanity.

Golden Future IX is dedicated to Stephan Vanfleteren who created an impressive portrait of Charleroi, Belgium. A town that flourished on the exploitation of the earth and from which the richesses disappeared as economic activity moved elsewhere.

This photograph has been taken in an abandoned gasometer in the same city in 2022.
