Misty Sunset

This image was captured in Biarritz, on the Basque coast in the South West of France at a surf break simply known as The Côte des Basques, home to some of the most beautiful waves on the planet.

I particularly appreciate to shoot ocean landscapes at sunset, when the elements finally calm down, when the haze of the sky mingles with the foam of the waves in an uncluttered aesthetic.
I analyze the weather almost as if I were going on a surf session to choose the best time of day, when the intensity, direction and color of the light are perfect. The light is 90% of the picture for me. Only the surfer disturbs the natural order and gives the ocean an evening tribute. The viewer finds himself a solitary contemplator of the immensity. It is man at peace with nature, as in a painting by Caspar Friedrich.
