Breast implants are medical devices implanted under breast tissue or under chest muscle to augment breast size or rebuild the breast after a mastectomy or other damage, the FDA says. In the last few years, a growing online community with thousands of women sharing concerns claiming symptoms related to breast implants being toxic for their bodies has led to a strong movement called breast implant illness. This illness is not a recognised medical condition as of yet, however, more and more studies have been published associating breast implants with rare diseases, autoimmune disorders and other serious health problems.
