Canadian Icons: Beneath the Surface

The grandeur of Waterton Lakes is truly breathtaking above the surface, but on a day when the waters are calm, you get to peek into a whole other world. The pebbles here have formed over millennia and are so colourful due to varying amounts of iron content in the stone. The winds in Waterton are almost constant, so you only get quick glimpses into this alternate universe, making them that much more spectacular when you do get to see them.

Nature can provide great reminders for life. Like this stunning reflection and these beautiful stones, things should be in balance. Everything may seem perfect on the outside, but underneath it could be falling apart at the seams. Life is a constant struggle of ups and downs, failures, triumphs, and lessons learned along the way. Working on becoming a whole, well-rounded human, inside and out, is a lifelong pursuit. In the end, true beauty really does lie beneath the surface.
