Taken in the cold desert of Nubra, Ladakh at 10,000 feet "Branching Timeline" is an image from my series "Universe Around Us" which I started developing a decade ago. This series began soon after I quit my corporate job and decided to become a full-time photographer in 2019. Since then I have been working on it and have been drawn to the Milky Way again and again. The vast night sky calms me and brings me peace. In the darkness I feel both wonder and a little fear and it pushes me to capture every small detail. It makes me feel insignificantly significant and even in that smallness, I find meaning. It reminds me that our work no matter how tiny in the cosmic scale can still matter.
This series has grown and taken its own shape. It doesn’t just reflect my love for nightscapes, it also shows my approach where technique is essential, yet the goal is to leave the viewer with something that feels surreal. As the series evolves the images will become bolder and more intricate continuing to connect the world we live in with the world above us. This series makes me think about time itself because when we look into space, we are looking back into the past and that school of thought has stayed with me which keeps me curious to continue exploring this journey.
