Kozachok's Inferno: 4th Circle of Hell: GREED
What is going on here?
In the fourth circle of Kozachok's Inferno, we find the realm of Greed. The people who lived with an extreme or excessive desire for resources, especially for property such as money, real estate, and other symbols of wealth, obtained in numerous immoral ways, are now residing here, receiving exactly what they wanted constantly. Except, as there was no satisfied appetite in their greed, the same way there is no end to how much they still receive... constantly.
In a place somewhat similar to the Limbo, we see restless people trying to find a minute of peace, however it is impossible to do so, since in this circle of hell, the sky is constantly 'raining' with one of the many objects we can see in this artwork.
Sometimes it is raining with tons and tons of golden ingots (bars), hitting them painfully without being able to die. Other times, there are storms and hurricanes made out of paper money, again causing them to be restless. A feeling of sleep deprivation is constantly present, but they cannot rest as they are always disturbed by the 'income' of more riches. Sometimes fancy cars, vaults, luxurious appliances and other items, often and randomly fall from the sky hitting those who do not constantly watch out.
The ones residing here, cannot feel hunger or thirst, but they can feel sleepiness, sleep deprivation, tiredness, pain, fear etc. There are numerous thin rivers of blood, symbolizing the price paid by other people for the riches of the ones in this circle.
In a life where the desire to obtain more and more was ever present, including stealing the desires and hopes of other people, now in this circle of Greed, these people continue to obtain constantly what they wished for. And they will keep getting more and more 'riches' for an eternity.
