To the Distant Beloved

I hold you in my arms without knowing why.

You tie me to life. You connect me to hope and joy. Even when I am suspended between earth and sky, you make me believe in love.

Your scent lingers in the quiet spaces of my loneliness.

Amid migration, war, and solitude, you are my point of hope. You are the small light that refuses to go out when everything else grows dark.

My distant beloved, if I can still imagine tomorrow, it is because of you.
