The Geography of Leaving

She crossed the water before she understood why the world was burning. Behind her, the ships carried smoke, silence, and the language of war. Ahead of her, only waves, myths, and the fragile weight of becoming remained.

The child does not flee alone. She drifts beside forgotten creatures and quiet angels, through a geography shaped not by borders, but by memory, exile, and survival.

Inspired by the emotional atmosphere surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, this work reflects on migrant childhood, inherited fear, and the surreal tenderness that can still exist in the shadow of conflict.

Somewhere between dream and displacement, she continues floating toward a home that may no longer exist.
