The Narrow Known

Neon sign letters have become a tired cliché in the art world, often lit up with phrases like “Believe in yourself,” “Follow your heart,” “Everything happens for a reason,” or “Good vibes only.” But belief—real belief—is rarely so tidy. Carl Jung would call it the shadow. The more you run from it, the more it controls you.

This piece flips the trope. It asks not what you show, but what you suppress. How many things do you actually believe but can’t say?

The more sacred or controversial the thought, the more narrow the territory becomes—until it’s barely navigable. And that’s exactly where this work wants to go, as a personal meditation.

It’s an experiment. A kind of ice bucket challenge for the soul—if you’re willing to engage.
