Like every Sunday, Pope Francis leads the faithful in praying the Angelus noon from the window of his study overlooking St. Peter's Square. But this Sunday is truly like no other, indeed there is a surprise. Someone hanged a marker above the Pope, scoring the amount of debt the Vatican has to pay in compensation for the sexual abuse in Spain.
The Ombudsman's investigation estimates 440,000 victims of pederasty in the Spanish Church. The historic report on abuse in the clergy, very hard on the institution, makes Spain the country with the highest official projection of victims. It is based on a survey of 8,000 people which puts the number of victims at 1.13% of the population. A compensation of 500K euro for each victim makes a total of 220,000,000,000 €
