Fagus 1

The forest is full of bodily forms; all those trunks, limbs, fissures, holes and folds. Nowhere is this melding of arboreal and corporeal landscapes more prominent than across the surfaces of Fagus Sylvatica, the common beech tree. Perhaps this is why she has always featured so prominently in mythologies; Queen of the Forest, it was said that no harm could befall a lost traveller who sought shelter under her limbs.
