The Chess Chase - a contest between two players on a road running through an infinite space of chess combinations.
The Shannon number, named after the American mathematician Claude Shannon, is a conservative lower bound of the game-tree complexity of chess of 10^120.
Shannon showed a calculation for the lower bound of the game-tree complexity of chess, resulting in about 10^120 possible games, to demonstrate the impracticality of solving chess by brute force, in his 1950 paper "Programming a Computer for Playing Chess".
According to this, the number of possible unique batches exceeds the number of atoms in the Universe.
(The number of atoms is estimated at 10^79 and the number of unique chess games is 10^120).
Did you know that the number of chess combinations tends to infinity?
