LEGACY OF PEACE is an original artwork created by Aishatu Ado in collaboration with House of Mandela Art. Intricate patterns inspired by African prints embellish the hand-drawn digital illustration using AI deep learning techniques. Featuring Nelson Mandela's original "LOVE" artwork and his signature which is part of his 2003 Symbols Series.
LEGACY OF PEACE narrates a story that is indelibly linked to Nelson Mandela's humanitarian spirit. Single strands of free-flowing hair intertwined into long braids signify the free flow of life and the infinite need for freedom. Hair symbolizes the strength of community: single strands of hair lack strength and are easily broken, whereas a braid of many strands together is strong.
Peace doves carrying Mandela's message of peace, love, and reconciliation continue to spread his message throughout the world. A pathway to freedom and dignity is paved with steely determination and compassion. In our hearts and on the blockchain, Mandela's name will live forever.
It is Nelson Mandela's legacy that provides us with the rich South African concept of Ubuntu, according to which "a person is a person because of/by/through other people". In order to build and maintain peaceful, just, and inclusive societies, it stresses the importance of community, reciprocity, solidarity, dignity, humanity, and mutuality.
Only 27 editions for each of the 27 years Mandela was incarcerated.
The proceeds will contribute to the construction and development of the Nelson Mandela Memorial Garden in his home village of Qunu in South Africa.
