The beast wandered east, shaking the ground with each titanic footfall. Once the apex mortal being of elysia, the beast’s mind had grown tainted by the wyrm, a divine being of pure chaos who sought to unravel the universe thread by thread. Holding onto the last shreds of his sanity, the beast marched east to free his mind. As the beast marched on and on, his lifegiving powers waned, creating the wheatlands and the great elysian desert where lush forests once stood. Where flowers and foliage had once sprung, harsh winds now blew to herald the pilgrimage of the beast.

The pilgrim and his small band of disciples marched on, the desert sun and wind battering them down with each step they took. But their mission was a divine one, guided by the hand of the angel of life, raphael. The pilgrim, the first man to come face to face with one of the five angels, had seen the evil caused by his fellow men. How traditions had died, how forests had burned, and how families had been shattered. Now, following in the footsteps of the beast, they marched on to build a new home.
After crossing over a towering dune, the massive skeleton of the beast lay before them. Its shining ivory bones held the memories of an entire age of elysia, an ancient wisdom which had been long forgotten. Upon touching his ribs, a deep feeling of safety was instilled among the group. Here, the beast had passed on, surrendering his mortal form to the holy ghost in what had once been a flowering oasis. Basking in the memories of ages past and a hope for the future of mankind, the pilgrim knew he had found his way home. Here, they built the holy city of Azarath.
