This hardwood behemoth's history is remarkably unique. Standing on the grounds of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s life-long home, the shade from this 150+ year old tree fell on F.D.R. both as a young child, and as the 32nd President of the United States. Though wheelchair bound by the time Winston Churchill visited during WWII, this tree was still a favored location for private conversations as it stands alone in a wide-open field, just off the carriage road. Imagine if this leafed leviathan could talk. What executive-level decisions were made beneath its now massive canopy? Quite literally, the fate of the world may have been decided under this magnificent Oak tree in upstate New York.
